Good to Know

Whitening works on natural enamel. Crowns, veneers, and fillings do not change color, so if you have visible dental work, the plan will account for it. Tell us about any tooth sensitivity when you book, and we will steer you to the gentlest effective option.

Questions, answered first

Teeth Whitening Questions

What whitening options does the office offer?

Three. In-office bleaching whitens your teeth here at the practice. Take-home whitening kits let you whiten gradually at home with trays made for you. The KoR deep bleaching system tackles deeper stains. At your visit we will help you choose the option that fits your teeth, your schedule, and the result you want.

What causes teeth to stain in the first place?

The most common culprits are cigarette smoking and deeply colored drinks such as coffee, tea, and red wine. Aging plays a role too, as enamel thins over time and the darker layer underneath shows through. Whitening removes built-up stains and rolls back the clock on that discoloration, but new habits can stain teeth again over time.

My teeth are sensitive. Can I still whiten?

Many patients with some sensitivity can still whiten, but the right option matters. Tell us about your sensitivity when you book, and Dr. Pechan will examine your teeth first and recommend the approach least likely to bother you, whether that is a gentler take-home pace or an in-office treatment with closer supervision.

Will whitening change the color of my crowns or fillings?

No. Whitening works on natural tooth enamel, and crowns, veneers, and fillings do not change color with it. If you have visible dental work, Dr. Pechan will plan with that in mind, so your natural teeth and your restorations end up matching rather than drifting apart in shade.
